What VAC Will Pay For

Veterans Independence Program (VIP) — covered services

If you have a service-related disability, VAC may cover the home care services below under VIP. Many veterans qualify and don't know it. We help you find out.

  1. Personal Care

Bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility assistance, transfers, and other daily living support — delivered in your home by trained PSWs and nurses.

  2. Homemaking

Light housekeeping, laundry, meal preparation, and routine tasks that became harder due to your service-related injury or illness.

  3. Grounds Maintenance

Snow removal, lawn care, and seasonal yard work. Yes, VAC covers this too. Most veterans don't realize they can claim it.

  4. Respite for Caregivers

If your spouse or family member is caring for you, VIP also funds respite time so they can rest, attend appointments, or take a break.

  5. Trauma-Informed Care

Our staff are oriented in trauma-informed practice for veterans living with PTSD, Operational Stress Injuries (OSI), and chronic pain from service.

  6. Transition Support

Care coordination during your transition from active service to civilian life, working alongside KMFRC and your VAC case manager.

VIP coverage amounts are reviewed annually by VAC. Your case manager confirms what's covered for your file. If you don't have one yet, we'll help you get started.

Who We Serve

Built for the people who served — and those who served alongside

Home care eligibility under VIP isn't only for the veteran. Your family qualifies too. So do survivors.

Veterans

CAF and RCMP veterans with a VAC-recognized service-related condition. If you've been assessed by VAC, there's a strong chance you qualify for VIP. If you haven't been assessed yet, your service-related conditions may still make you eligible — we'll help you find out.

CAF & Veteran Families

Spouses, common-law partners, and primary caregivers may qualify for respite services and homemaking support under VIP when caring for a veteran with significant care needs. Active CAF families in Kingston can also access support through KMFRC referrals.

Surviving Spouses & Primary Caregivers

If you were the primary caregiver to a veteran who has passed, you may still qualify for ongoing VIP benefits such as homemaking and grounds maintenance. Many surviving spouses are eligible and don't know it — call us, we'll check.

How We Engage

Two ways forward

Whether you already have a VAC case manager or you're starting from scratch, we meet you where you are.

01

You already have a VAC case manager

Easy. Give us your case manager's contact info and we coordinate directly. They send us the authorization, we send you care.

  • We contact your VAC case manager
  • Authorization processed directly with VAC
  • Care begins as soon as authorization is in place
  • Direct VAC billing — no invoices to you
02

You're not sure where to start

Call us. We'll walk you through the VAC process, help you understand what you may qualify for, and connect you to the right people. No pressure, no commitment.

  • Free intake conversation — no commitment
  • We explain VIP eligibility in plain language
  • Referrals to VAC, KMFRC, or OSI Clinic as needed
  • We follow up so nothing slips through the cracks
Getting Started

Four steps. We do most of the work.

Designed for veterans and their families — no portals, no jargon, no waiting on hold.

  1. 1

    Reach Out

Call us, email us, or fill out the form. Tell us briefly about your situation — current condition, whether you have a VAC case manager, what kind of help you need.

  2. 2

    We Confirm Coverage

We contact your VAC case manager (or help you start the process if you don't have one). Once VIP authorization is confirmed, we know exactly what's covered.

  3. 3

    Care Begins

We schedule and assign care workers familiar with veterans' needs. Same care worker continuity wherever possible. Trauma-informed practice throughout.

  4. 4

    We Handle Billing

VAC pays us directly under VIP. You receive monthly visit summaries — never a bill. If your needs change, we work with your case manager to adjust authorization.
